In October 2017 European Parliament approved the review of the scope of EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and the amendment was published in November as Directive (EU) 2017/2102. The revision will permit secondary market operations, such as reselling of EEE and spare parts, beyond a 2019 deadline. The current RoHS Directive states that both the first placing on the market and secondary market operations of non-compliant EEE will be prohibited after 22 July 2019. The European Commission proposed the amendments to allow the resale "at any time" and help promote a circular economy.
