Even before the change in U.S. administration, the U.S. Conflict Minerals Rule (section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act) was faced with efforts to minimize or eliminate the rule altogether. These efforts are increasing in momentum and some predict that Reporting Year 2016 may be the last reporting year for Conflict Minerals. Other sources indicate that it could take years to dismantle the law.
