On July 30^th, 2012 The California Department of Toxic Substance Control issued a formal draft for comment of its Safer Consumer Products regulation. The proposal requires manufacturers to seek alternative ingredients in widely used products. If approved, the regulation will implement AB 1879, which was enacted into law in 2008. The regulation will require DTSC to produce a Chemicals of Concern list, identify priority products, and make decisions regarding regulatory responses. The deadline for public comment is September 11, 2012.
