The GoodBye Chain Group

The Member State Committee (MSC) identified thirteen new Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs): four were identified as SVHCs under the precondition that they are carcinogenic above the concentration limit; five were included following the public consultation comments and the unanimous agreement of the Member State Committee; eight were added directly to the Candidate List without comments challenging the identification as SVHCs during the public consultation period.

The Candidate List update also includes a consolidation of the entries of aluminosilicate refractory ceramic fibres (Al-RCF) and zirconia aluminosilicate refractory ceramic fibres (ZrAl-RCF).

These 13 new substances and consolidations were made to the REACH SVHC Candidate List on June 18, 2012 bringing the total to 84 substances. These additions trigger the December 17, 2012 notification date for producers and importers of articles to notify ECHA if the total substance in the articles they produce or import exceeds one tonne per year, and the SVHC concentration level in articles is above 0.1 % by weight, unless exemptions apply.
