The European Union Restriction on Hazardous Substances has placed electronics and electrical equipment companiesunder a very challenging requirement to collect, manage, and report materials and substance data. This has resulted in a huge collective effort to standardize the definition and reporting of substance data within industry, in order that each party in the supply chain is able to minimize its legal, financial, and market risk. This GCG white paper describes standards efforts within the industry and how those standards can minimize risk, reduce effort, and increase accuracy in requesting and supplying data on material and substance data in electrical and electronicproducts and parts.
